Amanda Serrano gained interest in joining MMA in 2015 after participating in the filming of the 2016 action film, Fight Valley. She met fighters in the sport during filming and was motivated by their economic potential as well as the fact that there was no Puerto Rican UFC fighter. She would go on to start training in the sport as well as in wrestling around the same time.
