Nikola Jokic has two older brothers named Strahinja and Nemanja. The Jokic brothers were noticeably on the court when the Denver Nuggets star received his MVP trophy. They have on other occasions made the headlines for trying to defend their NBA star younger brother when he gets into some confrontation on the court.
Jokic, who weighs over 280 pounds and stands at 6 feet 11 inches tall, does not look like he would help defend himself against anybody. But that has not stopped his older brothers from stepping up to the plate. Here is more on them.
Strahinja Jokic is the Oldest of the Jokic Brothers
- Full Name: Strahinja Jokic
- Date of Birth: 1982
- Place of Birth: Sombor, Serbia
- Height: 6 feet 8 inches
- Profession: Former Professional Basketball Player
Strahinja Jokic is the oldest child of the Jokic family. He was born in Sombor, Serbia in 1982, more than a decade before Nikola came into the world. Much about Strahinja’s early life is unknown but it is known that he also played basketball. This does not come as much of a surprise since he is listed to be 6 feet 8 inches tall.
Nikola’s brother played the game in Europe but was not as successful as his younger brothers. Speaking in an interview with Bleacher Report, Nikola revealed that Strahinja had a passion for the sport and hated to lose, but was not that talented. He revealed that he can sometimes get irritated and punch chairs when things are not going as expected. This, he said, is something Strahinja got from their father who has similar antics.
But despite Strahinja’s inability to play the game at a high level, he was able to teach his little brother the sport and guide him to becoming the player he is today.

Nemanja Jokic is Two Years Younger Than Strahinja
- Full Name: Nemanja Jokic
- Date of Birth: 26th August 1984
- Place of Birth: Sombor, Serbia
- Height: 6 feet 6 inches
- Profession: Former Professional Basketball Player
Nemanja Jokic was born two years after Strahinja in their hometown of Sombor in Serbia. He came into the world on the 26th of August 1984. Like his older brother, Nemanja also played basketball. He notably played Division I college basketball in the United States.
Nemanja attended the University of Detriot Mercy. While he might be the shortest of the Jokic siblings with a height of 6 feet 6 inches, he still stood out on the court. The records have it that he featured in 29 of his school’s 30 games when he was a freshman. He was described as a skilled big man who could hit shots from the outside – much like Nikola has done in his NBA career.
Unfortunately, Nemanja Jokic was not quite able to take his game to the next level to enter the NBA. He instead concentrated on his studies and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Strahinja and Nemanja Have Defended Their Brother Against Other NBA Players
Nikola Jokic’s brothers first came to the public’s attention in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals in 2021 when the Nuggets were matched-up against the Phoenix Suns. Jokić had made a hard swipe at the ball in the third quarter and caught Suns player Cameron Payne in the face. He was subsequently ejected after his actions were assessed as a flagrant foul two.
Before the ejection, however, Jokic had got into a stare-down with Suns’ Devin Booker. While players from both teams scrambled to end the scuffle, Nikola Jokic’s brothers were itching to get on the court from the stands to defend their younger brother.

A few months after that, the Jokic brothers were in the news again. This time it was after Nikola was ejected for shoving Markieff Morris in a game between Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. Following the incident, there was an altercation between both teams. Markieff’s twin brother Marcus went to Twitter to share his opinion, insinuating that he was going to get back Nikola whenever they get to face off against each other.
Because of this, the Jokic brothers created a Twitter account in other to respond to the threats against their brother. They called for calm before threatening to take action if any harm befell their younger brother.
