Derek Stingley Jr. is an American football player who was born on the 20th of June 2001 in Baton Rouge Louisiana. He grew up in his hometown where he attended The Dunham School. He was notably very good at American football while he was in high school as he was named the Louisiana Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior. He would go on to attend Louisiana State University and play for the LSU Tigers where he continued to shine.
The cornerback is no doubt from a generation of sports lovers. His family’s history would not be complete without the mention of sports. Derek’s grandfather, Darryl Stingley, was a great American football player in the National Football League. Darryl passed the baton down to his son whose name is Derek Stingley Sr.

Derek Stingley Sr is the biological father of Derek Stingley Jr. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 9, 1971. Derek Sr. grew up in Chicago and enrolled at Purdue University, his father’s alma mater, in 1989. He however left the school to attend smaller institutions. The athelet who played both baseball and football for his school, graduated from Triton College in 1993 and was drafted into the MLB.
In 1993, Derek Sr was selected in the major league baseball draft by the Philadelphia Philies. He was with the team from 1993 to 1995 before choosing concentrate on football and joining the semi-pro team, Louisiana Bayou Thunder. After then, he moved to play in the Arena Football League where he spent nine solid years before he became a coach.

Darryl Floyd Stingley is the biological father and the grandfather of Derek Stingley Sr. and Derek Stingley Jr., respectively. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Mr. Harold E. Stingley Sr. and Mrs. Hilda M. Stingley on 18 September 1951.
Darryl attended John Marshall High School where he started playing Amercian football as a running back. He distinguished himself so much among his peers that he ended up getting a full scholarship to attend Purdue University. He excelled in college and would later end up going pro after being selected nineteenth overall in the 1973 NFL Draft.
Darryl looked like he was built to have a long career in the NFL. however, he would suffer an injury in 1978 that paralyzed him for life. On the 12th of August to be precise, Jack Tatum, the defensive back for the Oakland Raiders, collided with Darryl and suffered an injury that compressed his spinal cord and brole his fourth and fifth cervical vertebrae. The hit put the athlete in a wheelchair for life and brought his glorious career to an abrupt end at the prime age of 26 years.
But while Darryl Stingley’s body was reduced to a wheelchair, his mind wasn’t because he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Purdue University on the 9th of May, 1992. Not only that, Darryl Stingley further went on to do lots of great things with his life. He co-authored a book titled, “Happy to be Alive” in the year 1983. He also founded a charity/non-governmental organization (NGO) that was responsible for helping vulnerable and troubled young men and women in his home State – West Chicago.
Derek Stingley Jr.’s grandfather later died of heart disease and pneumonia at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital on 5 April 2007. He gave birth to a total number of four children; Derek Stingley Sr., Nicole Stingley Holzinger, Darryl Stingley Jr, and John Smith Stingley.
