Chris Hutchinson is an American former college football player who, like his son, played for the Michigan Wolverines football team of the University of Michigan. He played as a Defensive Tackle and Outside Linebacker for the team from 1989 to 1992.
Chris was an outstanding athlete in his day. At the end of his junior year, he was selected as a first-team All-Big Ten defensive tackle. The following year, Chris was named his team’s tri-captain. He went on to break his school’s single-season record for quarterback sack yardage with 99 and tied the single-season sack record with eleven. He would go on to end his collegiate career with 24 career sacks, which was at the time the second-highest total in Michigan history. He also finished second in Michigan history for career sack yardage and won the Dick Katcher and Meyer Morton Awards.
While competing at the highest levels on the field, Chris Hutchinson was also a very good student. He performed very highly academically so it was no surprise he was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team three times. He further became an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship winner.
Aidan Hutchinson’s dad went undrafted in 1993 but still signed with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent. He, however, was unable to make it as a pro as he developed complications from a tetanus shot that led him to retire. Chris would subsequently enroll at the University of Michigan Medical School to become a medical doctor.
