Kelly Stafford’s love story with Matthew Stafford seems like a proper romantic escapade from literature. Her first meeting with Matthew was as a football player and a cheerleader. Interesting isn’t it? their love story seems to us like a teenage novel romance. The pair met while studying at the University of Georgia, at the time Matthew was the bulldogs starting quarterback while Kelly was a member of the football cheerleading squad.
The pair dated for eight years before the football quarterback finally popped the question. In 2014, Kelly and Matthew got engaged and held a bachelorette party in the Bahamas. The couple exchanged marriage vows in a lavish ceremony held at the Foundry at Puritan Mill, Atlanta, Georgia on 4th April 2015. The guests took home a designer pair of Nike shoes and Neon colored hat of their choice. After the wedding ceremony, the couple had a getaway honeymoon in New Zealand.
A year after, Kelly celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a sweet message:
“It’s been somewhat of a tough year when it comes to everything else besides this marriage. I might be kinda biased [ed], but I think we are pretty good at it! The laughter you bring me every day is such a blessing and I’m so lucky to have you to lean on. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us. Cheers to one year with my best friend.”

In February 2022, Kelly made the news again, this time with her husband, Matthew. The pair received backlash for their reaction after photographer Kelly Smiley fell off the stage right in front of them while documenting the Los Angeles Rams celebration. The photographer suffered a fractured spine which resulted in her friends organizing a GoFundMe to fund her medical expenses.
