Nyjah Huston’s parents are Kelle and Adeyemi Huston. The American pro skateboarder’s father is of African-American and Japanese descent, while his mother is White.
Nyjah’s multi-ethnic background, and his father’s dedication to teaching his son the sport, have contributed to him being the great skateboarder that he is today, with five championships to his name and having the title of the world’s highest-earning skateboarder.
Meet Nyjah Huston’s Parents – Kelle and Adeyemi Huston
Kelle Huston was born sometime in the 1970s in the United States of America. She is an alumna of the University of California, but details of what she studied are not known. She has, however, had a flourishing career and worked as an executive director at Let If Flow, a non-profit organization that specializes in the repair of inoperable wells in developing countries. In recent times, she has served as the Chief Operating Officer at Nyjah Huston Incorporation, located in Laguna Beach, California.
Adeyemi Huston, on the other hand, is also an American believed to have been born in the 1970s. He received high school education, but details remain unknown. It can be said that Nyjah’s skating prowess was inherited from his father, as Adeyemi started skating when he was a teenager.
With his passion for skating, he taught his children the sport, and Nyjah was able to become a professional. Having trained his son to become a pro and competed internationally, he became his son’s manager and videographer, training and escorting him to various tournaments.
Kelle and Adeyemi Huston Met in High School
Nyjah Huston’s parents, Kelle and Adeyemi, met in Merced, California, when they were both in junior high school. Kelle was a part of the school’s cheerleading team, while Adeyemi was the bad boy in town. This, according to Nyjah’s mother, was what attracted her to Adeyemi. It was not a surprise that her parents were not in support of the relationship but Kelle insisted on being with Adeyemi, and their relationship flourished.
The pair lived the Rastafarian way of life, which according to them, made them a little bit more spiritual. Kelle and Adeyemi would go on to raise their children in this way of life and isolate them from society, so they do not get exposed to American culture. They welcomed five children; Nyjah, Jahmai, Ahbi, Klade, and Isha.
The Huston family lived in the United States before Adeyemi decided they were going to move to Puerto Rico. It was when Nyjah Huston was 13 years old and they were living in Puerto Rico that his parents decided to part ways.
Nyjah Huston’s Parents are Divorced
Kelle Huston and Adeyemi Huston fell apart after Kelle started getting disillusioned with their way of life. As her children grew up, she found their isolated lifestyle to be a bad thing for them as they were not meeting other children and attending normal schools. Their lifestyle was restricting them from having a normal childhood, thus, she opted for them to get to experience the world as it is.
Adeyemi did not agree with this, so they ended up parting ways. Kelle went with Nyjah’s four siblings to California while he stayed behind to continue his skateboarding career. After about a year, she filed for divorce and accused her husband of physical abuse, which he denied. The court, however, ruled in her favor and granted her full custody of all her children.

Nyjah Huston Initially Stayed With His Father But Has Since Left Him
Nyjah Huston lived with his father for almost two years after his parents separated. He had to adhere to his strict rules, which took a toll on their relationship.
After the court proceedings between his parents ended, Nyjah took steps to disassociate himself from his father. He did so by signing with an established company and abandoning the one that they hoped to build together. The decision led to them having a back and forth on the matter, but things were later settled amicably as his father wished him well. The pair now have an estranged relationship as Nyjah maintains a very close relationship with his mother, who he has put on his payroll under the Nyjah Huston Incorporation.
