The young boy who was born in San Cayetano, Argentina on March 16, 1988, began playing his favorite sport with Club Atlético Huracán (Huracán de Tres Arroyos) in the city of Tres Arroyos in Buenos Aires Province.
At the age of 19 in 2007, Club Atlético Lanús acquired his service from the regional club he was signed to. As things would pan out, Lanus would go on to win its first trophy that year, the 2007 Apertura tournament, but Marchesin was a non-playing member of the squad. It would take him about two more years before he would displace the team’s first-choice goalkeeper and become a mainstay with the side in the 2009/10 season.
Marchesin maintained his position as the club’s first-choice keeper in the following years, playing a key in the team’s journey to becoming Copa Sudamericana champions in 2013.

Marche, as he is fondly called, made an immediate impact with the side as he was named Primeira Liga Goalkeeper of the Month in each of his first four months with the team. He would go on to play a pivotal role in his team winning the league and Taça de Portugal double. His performances along the way ensured that he was named Goalkeeper of the Year in Portugal. He was also included in the Team of the Year at the end of his first season in Europe.
Marchesin Lost His Place as Porto’s Number 1 Goalkeeper After Suffering an Injury
Agustin Marchesin didn’t have many struggles with injury until he moved to Porto. His first season with the side was injury-free, however, things changed in the 2021-2022 season when he suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee.
At the start of that season, Marchesin was called up to join the Argentina national team for Copa America. As a result, young goalkeeper Diogo Costa got a run as Porto’s first-choice goalkeeper. Following Argentia’s victory at the competition, Marche returned but suffered a knee injury that meant he would spend some time on the sidelines. This long stint away gave Costa a good run of games and he would go on to displace Marche to become Porto’s first choice.
