Dr. Cauthen claimed Josh exposed his genitals to her nine times during multiple sessions. She filed a civil complaint against the Spurs and a criminal complaint against Primo in Bexar County. The Sheriff’s Office of Bexar County told The Associated Press it made contact with Hillary Cauthen, the victim involved in the Joshua Primo incident, and had started a “preliminary investigation into the allegations against Primo.”
In her complaint case, the San Antonio Spurs’ former performance psychologist said the team did nothing to address her concerns or discipline Primo “despite her numerous complaints about Primo’s improper sexual conduct.” Cauthen said she had reported to Spurs general manager Brian Wright after Primo’s first case of indecent exposure in December 2021, and she requested a meeting. She said her request for a meeting in January was postponed until March, and all through the time, Cauthen continued to counsel Primo despite her concerns.
However, Primo’s attorney, William J. Briggs II, has insisted “Dr. Cauthen’s allegations are either a complete fabrication, a gross embellishment or utter fantasy.” In defense of his client, he said, “Josh Primo never intentionally exposed himself to her or anyone else and was not even aware that his private parts were visible outside of his workout shorts.”
